UK Concrete: Precast and Masonry Expo 2023

The success continues

This year the Precast & Masonry Expo returned to the Leicester Tigers stadium on the 18th of May 2023.

The Expo was another great success with both the exhibition hall and seminar room packed with delegates throughout the day.

The event attendance serves as a real testament to the dedication and level of engagement within the concrete industry. Visitors were able to network, view the latest supply chain innovations and gain plenty of insights from a fantastic seminar programme.

Feedback from the close to 300 visitors has been overwhelmingly positive and we hope it points to continued growth for the event in the coming years. There was a lot to take away from this year’s event …

Precast concrete firmly part of the future

From virtual building tours and details of the homes of the future to low-carbon concrete mixes and the LCA tools with which to measure them, one message was clear – embrace innovation and allow technology to support business growth.

The precast and masonry sectors are uniquely placed within the pantheon of mineral products to be able to full capitalise on the benefits of modern methods of construction (MMC) and digital technologies.

All about adding value

This year we saw some of the value of industry collaboration manifest, be it the transformative changes to BS8500 and concrete mixes, the fire test on concrete cladding or the MPA relationship with OneClickLCA and the concrete EPD tool. It wasn’t just the value of industry collaboration in the spotlight but also the emerging importance of maximising the sectors approach to social value which took centre stage with Penny Anderson, Head of Social Impact at Akerlof addressing the Expo. It is clear that the precast and masonry sector working together is rising to the challenge of an ever-evolving construction marketing and a climate under threat. None of the innovations or forward-thinking solutions presented on the day would be possible without the involvement of both full and associate MPA members. All of which means …

We would like to say a big thank you

Thank you to all our members, exhibitors, speakers, and visitors for making this year’s event so special!

Putting on the event each year takes a huge effort from not only the team at MPA Precast and MPA Masonry but also from the wider team at UK Concrete, the Concrete Centre and MPA. That investment continues to pay off.
